WEAC leaders, members participate in Day of Action Against Gun Violence in Schools

April 20, 2018

WEAC members and WEAC leaders joined with educators and community members throughout the state Friday to send the message that Enough is Enough when it comes to gun violence in schools. WEAC President Ron Martin and Secretary Treasurer Arlene Braden donned “Enough” T-shirts and then headed to a rally at the State Capitol. WEAC Vice President Peggy Wirtz-Olsen joined the Tomahawk Education Association and community members Friday morning during a school walk-in to support safe public schools. Similar activities were taking place Friday throughout the state and nation.

Spotlight on Locals: Fox Valley Technical College Faculty Association

When local associations share their stories of success, it helps them grow in numbers and in strength. That was one of the key messages that WEAC Vice President Peggy Wirtz-Olsen took away from her recent visit with leaders of the Fox Valley Technical College Faculty Association in Appleton. “We continue to do good things here, and everyone needs to know that it is the Fox Valley Technical College Faculty Association that is making this a better place to work and a better place for students to learn,” FVTCFA President Jim Reinke said. The Wisconsin Supreme Court will again take up a case about the independent authority of the elected state superintendent. … The next School Funding Commission public hearing is Monday in Oshkosh. … The governor signed a slew of bills into law, including the child tax rebate and sales tax holiday.
